  1. Good morning! I am Loralie Hoffort from Canada, married with 3 married children and 3 grandchildren. I love creating and photography and am drawn to close up florals and nature and anything soft and pretty really. I love how an image can tell a story and inspire. I am excited to be on this 4 week journey with all of you and learning from such a talent as Carolyn (I discovered her beautiful work on instagram)
    My instagram tag

  2. Hello! I am Gerri Hagen from Texas. I discovered Carolyn’s blog through WordPress and was immediately captivated by her beautiful images. I am a former Art Teacher (now retired) and enjoy photography, drawing, painting, flower arranging, basically anything that stirs the creative process. I am married with three children and three sweet granddaughters. We’re expecting another one in February. My husband and I enjoy traveling when we can and puttering in the garden. I am looking forward to learning with Carolyn. She is so talented! My Instagram tag is @tocreatesunshine.

    • Hi Gerri! Welcome … yes, I think we’ve been following each other for a few years now. I didn’t know that you taught art … what a great career! Congratulations on the new little one that’s due. I’m so glad you’re here. Thank you for your kind words!

  3. Hi! I am Garnett Hutchinson from Southeast, Virginia! So excited to be here. I am a portrait and family photographer. I also like to travel and take photos of wildlife and landscapes. I had a 38-year career at NASA. I have been retired for 3 years and photography is my passion. I struggle with still life… the set up, the angles, all of it! A friend pointed me here and I can’t wait to learn more! My Instagram is @garnetthutchinson

    • So nice to meet you Garnett! And I’m so glad you’re here too! Wow! You’ve had quite the life so far! 😉 You’re in the right place to learn still life! Who is your friend that pointed you in this direction?

    • Hi Garnett, I’m so glad to see that you are taking this class too! Thanks for letting me know about Carolin’s site.

      • Hi Peggy … Garnett actually took the course last time I offered it. 😊 The other introductions are just included here.

  4. I’m so happy to join all of you! I’m Lisa Fraudin from Pittsburgh. I’m a wife and mom to 2 married sons with 1 baby grand-daughter. I think I’ve dabbled in every crafty thing under the sun, adding starting to learn the buttons on my camera about 4 years ago (after my kids were grown). I struggled trying to learn and find my nitch, because so much of the learning revolves around learning to shoot people. I gravitated to macro but know every minute is precious and so I want to learn more about capturing my moments beautifully. I’m @lfraudin on IG.

    • Hi Lisa … and welcome! You sound like me. I have a room full of craft supplies! 😉 We’ll have lots of fun learning together here … I’m so glad you joined us! I’m looking forward to seeing images you post.

  5. Hi! I’m Lisa Fraudin from Pittsburgh, PA. I’m a wife and mom to 2 married sons with 1 baby grand daughter who has stolen our hearts. I’ve dabbled in just about every craft under the sun, adding starting to learn the buttons on a “real” camera about 4 years ago (after my kids were raised.) I struggled trying to learn with most learning based on shooting people. I’ve gravitated to macro and know every minute is precious, so I want to learn more about capturing my everyday-beautifully. I’m impressed with all your images-by Carolyn and the others that have shared their IG address’ so far. Thank you! I’m @lfraudin on IG (planning to post more regularly!)

  6. Good morning! I’m Connie Collins from Canada! I’m a wife, mother of three grown daughters and between them have four grandchildren with one more due in January! I’m retired from the financial industry and moved to a rural community to embrace a slower pace of life. I love to quilt, knit, cook & bake. I dabbled in photography when the kids were small, but once I retired, I wanted to improve my skills. My camera gives me a reason to get outside every day. I stumbled on Carolyn’s amazing work on Instagram and jumped at this course, to learn from her! I can be found on Instagram @basildonkitchens. I look forward to working & learning with all of you!

    • Connie, it’s so good to have you here! I love your rural photography … I enjoy my life out in the country too. How exciting to be improving your photography skills. You are so sweet! Thank you so much for your kind words. It’s going to be fun!

  7. Good Morning!
I’m Marissa from Canada! I’m a wife to a grain farmer and we have 3 young Daughter’s. I have a passion for antiques and history. I love to be creative with all my antique and vintage finds, by styling and staging. I am very excited about this course and look forward to visiting everyone’s instagram accounts. I can be found at @therusticfarmwife

    • Hi Marissa … and welcome! That sounds like a very interesting life … and it sounds like you have access to pretty amazing props! 🙂 I’m happy you’re here. It will be fun learning together!

  8. Hi! I’m Carol Elliott. I photograph my ordinary, everyday life. I live in Washington state. Kennewick to be exact. I have three kids who grew up and moved away. A husband who doesn’t like to have his picture taken, but is my biggest fan. And a black lab who only wants to play fetch. I adore Carolyn’s photography and know that this is the place my still life journey should begin. I’m so excited to meet you all! You can find me on Instagram at @carolelliott.

    • Hi Carol … so nice to meet you! I have three kids too. They live near me though … and my husband hates to get his picture taken too. ? Thank you for your kind words. That means a whole lot to me!

  9. Hi, I am Charlotte but most of my photog friends call me “Charlie.” I am a GA girl, transplanted to Texas by way of the Air Force (hubby). I have 3 grown sons, 2 are married and I have 2 grandsons. I am an RN, but haven’t worked as a nurse in years. I love landscapes, macro/nature and still life photography and rarely, if ever shoot images of people. Although, I do need to get better at taking images of those grand babies. I want to do more food and maybe venture into a bit of street photography as some point, that will be my people images. I have been doing Still Life for almost a year, have tons of props, (as I started collecting before I started shooting it), baby wraps and cloths. I love color, especially bright colors. I, also, lean toward vintage when doing still life, so that does not always lean toward bright colors. I have made alot of my own backgrounds, which you will see some of them, when I post my images. My friend Lisa and I, are already doing a still life challenge project together and decided to do this class together, as well. Here is my IG feed/tag: (I almost put Charlie as my avatar but decided to just go with Char, but that doesn’t, seem to fit so I have toyed with the idea of changing it. Oh well, we shall see.

PS: I haven’t done my first week assignment, as I have been out of town (at the beach) for a photography retreat/workshop. So, I am hoping to get caught up this week. I look forward to seeing everyone’s work, I have like some on IG and follow a bunch of you, already! Mine is set to private, so still send me a request.

    • Hi Charlie! Nice to meet you! You sound like a true photography lover! I’m looking forward to seeing your images! And how fun that you and Lisa are taking this class together. I’ll look for you on Instagram.

  10. Hi I am Darlene Cunnup and late to the workshop. I am looking forward to catching up and learning from Carolyn
I am a concert photographer that loves still life photography.
I basically love photography and have since I was young. Growing up my dad was a photographer and i got bit by photo bug watching him lol
I photographed my way through all the good and bad days in my life and even through my breast cancer journey.
    My Instagram is @photosbydarlenecunnup

    • Hi Darlene! And welcome … I’m so glad you’re here. A concert photographer … that sounds so interesting! That’s so great that you’ve loved photography for so long! 🙂 I’m looking forward to seeing the images you come up with!

  11. Hi All
My name is Debra. Carolyn and I have been friends for 10 years. We met in an online photography course and became good friends over the years. Last year we were able to finally meet in person when my husband and I took a trip to the west coast. It was so nice to finally meet in person, to talk and photograph together. She is an amazing photographer and an incredible person. I’m looking forward to the class and her knowledge. I have photographed many subjects but fell in love with still life photography. Now I am applying my still life skills to food photography. Nice to meet you all.

    • Hi Debra! I’m so glad you’re here with us! 🙂 Thanks for sharing about yourself and your photography!

  12. Hi, I’m Lori Rowland from Smithfield, VA. I began my photography journey about 3 years ago. I work full time, but always find time to spend with my camera. My favorite types of photography are macro and landscape. I find still life images beautiful, but struggle with the setup and making them look like what I see in my mind. Maybe it’s because I don’t have the right props for this! I’m so looking forward to the class.

    • Hi Lori! Welcome! I’m so glad to have you here! I love landscape photography too! I’ll bet you have some really pretty images from the east coast. You’ll learn so much here that will help you on your still life journey.

  13. Hello everyone,

I’m Janny from Australia. I stumbled Carolyn’s blog and website last year as I was learning about still life photography. I started my photography journey more than 6 years ago with main interest in street and travel. I’m self employed and running my own IT business with my husband who happens to be an amateur photographer too. We both spend most of our weekend times walking around the street and taking photos.
I started to like still life & food photography about 6 months ago, mainly photographing my daily morning coffee and home made cake and the interest has grown ever since.
I really love Carolyn’s work for its minimalist, simple yet elegant styling. I hope I can learn more from this class and improve my skill.

I’m really looking forward to this class.

    • Hi Janny! I love hearing where people are from! I love your street photography and your still life! I’m happy to have you here in the course. And what fun that both you and your husband love photography. Thank you so much! I’m looking forward to seeing any changes your photography takes as you go through this course.

  14. Good morning! I am Kathy Crispino and I live with my husband and 2 senior Airedales in Southport NC. We retired there from Pittsburgh 6 plus years ago. It seems like I always have had a camera in my hand and have taken many classes. This is my first still life class. I have done several project 365s, taking a picture a day which certainly helped build my skills. I am so looking forward to learning the ins and outs of Still Life Photography. Garnett Hutchinson highly recommended this

    • Hi Kathy! Welcome! Southport NC just sounds so romantic … maybe I’ve read too many novels about like in the Carolinas. 🙂 I’m so excited to have you here! Those 365 day projects really do help improve our skills. I look forward to seeing your work! Can you share your Instagram with us?

  15. Hello,

I’m Janny from Australia and forgot to mention my IG account. You can find me @jen_journal and @jen_journal_colour

  16. Hi from South Florida. I’m Anita. I love still
life photography. I goal is to expand my vision and add new skills to create a moment in time that defines my images. You can find me on Instagram @aphoto3

    • Hi Anita! It’s so nice to see you here! I know we’ve been following one another for a while now. I know you’ll do just that, expand your vision and add new skills through this course. It’s always so inspiring to learn alongside others who share similar interests. 🙂

  17. Hi! I am Sue from Minnesota. I love still life/flat lay photography but really struggle setting things up so excited for this class. You can find me on instagram @skvale

  18. Hi, I’m Martha! When I first started to get serious with my photography, still life was not even on my radar. A couple of 365 and 52 projects later I’ve discovered I actually enjoy it, especially when it’s too cold and dreary to go outside. I’m quite new to it and have so much to learn. I struggle mightily with creative story ideas and props, so I’m very excited about this class. I hope to be far more comfortable with still life four weeks from now than I am today! You can find me on IG at @schlesshots.

  19. Hi everyone, I’m Peggy Pryor from Felton, Delaware and I’m so glad to be here. I started doing daily prompts with Katrina Kennedy about 7 years ago and fell in love with photography. I also retired 7 years ago, so this quickly became my hobby. I’m married with 2 grown married sons, and 3 sweet Grandchildren. I love shooting macro, landscapes and of course my Grands, but I really need to learn more about setting up a scene. Garnett Hutchison told me about your website and I immediately signed up for your class. Looking forward to learning from everyone. You can find me on Instagram @pegpryor

  20. Hi, I’m Pierrette,I’m french and live in a small town in the south of France, not far from the Mediterranean Sea. I don’t know your big country but maybe one day. I’ve been retired for two years. I’ve had two big boys and a grandson for a month. I love plants, nature and travel.
I met Carolyn through her beautiful photos on Instagram and blog, and I recently participated in her course on natural light that interested me a lot, that’s why I am delighted to continue with this 2nd workshop to learn more. my instagram @chemin.des.eglantiers

  21. Hi – My name is Jean Hutter and I am from New Jersey USA. I have been taking photos for about a year or so – bought my big girl camera in May 2019. I very much enjoy still life work.
