With so many stories to tell, telling the story of your zip code seemed like a good place to start.
When was the last time you took a casual stroll through your home, yard, neighborhood or town with your camera in hand looking for things to photograph?
It’s surprising how many things you find that capture your attention.
What does your zip code tell you about that place and area you call home? The numbers included in my zip code do nothing for me … but when I consider all of the images of this place known by those numbers I can see the beauty. Let’s capture the beauty of those five numbers that define that area you call home.
For me it’s open fields and old rustic buildings, vineyards, grasses blowing in the breeze.
What is it for you?
City lights, streets lined with cars, highways, sky scrapers?
A quiet neighborhood, mailboxes, playgrounds, schools?
We all live in such different surroundings. It’s going to be great fun capturing our zip code!
If you haven’t yet, sign up today! And if you have, the introduction is available below and the first of your lessons will be available on May 3rd.

Where do I go if I have questions? I just read through and took notes on the first part of this week’s lesson. I guess what I’m wanting to know is how many days do I focus on those things before I move on to the second part of the lesson for this week? ☺️❤️🙌🏼📸📸📸📸🌊🌊🌊

Hi Heather. Comments can be left on each lesson and topic now. 🙂 I fixed it.

Hi Carolyn, I’m so happy to be in your course! I love your photography and look forward to sharing where I live, which is so very different than where you live, with you and all participants. It will be interesting to see where each person lives and also to see the “treasures” inside their homes. Whoever has an Instagram feed should post their name, so we can all follow along. I can be found at @doodlebug_designz. I hope to see all of your fabulous photos too. Thanks!!

Hi Debra. I’m so glad you’re taking it as well. And I agree, it will be fun to see where each of us lives and treasures in our homes.

Hi Everyone – I’m excited to be a part of this course although I’ll be renaming it to “Capturing Your Postal Code” – it’s a Canadian thing, eh. 😀 I’d love to have you follow me on Instagram @roscodosco and I look forward to seeing your creations each week. I live about an hour north of the Canada/US border (International Peace Gardens crossing) and spend my summers on the edge of Riding Mountain National Park, another hour north. Due to Covid, I’m living at the cottage most of the time now, in a bubble of two, with my husband. I just finished the Still Waters Journey with Carolyn and ended up with a great portfolio of still life images. It was a fair exchange for not being able to go to Mexico for the winter as I usually do. Thanks for all your advice and assistance in that journey, Carolyn. This course is going to be fun!
Sixteen Miles Out says
Thanks so much Darlene! I’ve been loving your images so far and your great captions that tell so much more of your story. What a journey we’ve all been on! 🙂
Eleni Palmos says
Hello Carolyn. I would like to gift this course to my sister. We would both love your feedback on our posts. How can I buy a class for her?
sixteenmilesout says
Hi Eleni. That’s great! I’ll email you.
Sherri Stone says
Hi Carolyn, I’m so glad that you came up with this class! I live in a small rural town in southeastern Virginia called Windsor. I’m excited to share this part of the world as I love seeing the farms with different crops ready to harvest. I think it’s because both sets of my grandparents were farmers. My handle on IG is @faithisrising.
sixteenmilesout says
This is just great Sherri! I’m really so glad that you enjoyed it so much! It really is one of my favorites! 🙂
