Introduction:

Welcome to Shooting for the Seasons … we’re so glad you’re here! We’ll be going over many things in the next four weeks that will inspire and enhance your abilities to capture the seasons in the best way possible.

What do you think of when you think about the upcoming seasons? How do you decorate your table? Do you put decorations throughout your home?

Do you bring in fall florals, twinkle lights? greenery and bows? … capture them … with something that shows the seasonal things…

Do you drink tea, coffee, hot chocolate? Capture those things… those moments. Are you a sweater wearer or one who cozies up in a blanket? Capture that.

This isn’t just about setting up and shooting your Thanksgiving table, but all of those intimate times you’ll have. Maybe just quiet cozy moments on your own … maybe a sweet little picnic in your back yard.

Please introduce yourself in the comment section below. We’d love to know who you are. Also, we’d love to follow you on Instagram, so if you’d tell us your name there that would be great!

  1. I’ll introduce myself first … I’m Carolyn. I’ve been doing still life photography for about 5 years and I love it! Jim and I have been married since 1978! We have 3 daughters and 9 grandchildren. My instagram is @sixteenmilesout … and we live sixteen miles out of town. 🙂

  2. Hi everyone. I’m Debra abs I’m glad you are here. My husband, Brian and I have been married for 18 years. I have one daughter and I am a grandma to an adorable little boy. I have been a still life photographer for over 5 years. I’m looking forward to seeing your beautiful photos!

  3. Hi, my name is Tina, I’m from Richmond Virgina. I’m married, and will be celebrating my 40th anniversary on November 7th. I have two adult children, both are married. My daughter has three children, which makes me a ‘Nana’.😊 I consider myself a hobbyist. I’ve been involved in a 365 group, this being my 6th year. Its only been recently that I started exploring still life photography, I’ve taken a number of courses, several from Carolyn. I’ve enjoyed her courses very much, and I’m looking forward to participating in this course as well. You can find me on IG @fowlertb.

    • Hi Tina! Welcome! I love having you in my courses! 🙂 And congratulations on your upcoming anniversary. Ours is on November 18th … 42 years. Grandchildren are the best aren’t they! Thank you for your kind words. This will be a fun course.

      • Lol, looks like we have a lot of experience under our belt. I do enjoy being a grandmother, it’s the best. Each one of my grandkids has their own unique personality and that makes for fun visits.

    • Hi Tina
I’m so glad you are taking our course. I have taken Carolyn’s courses too and always enjoy them and learn new things. I hope you enjoy this “together” course too. I’m looking forward to seeing your photos!
      Debra

  4. Hi Everyone,

My name is Deborah. I’ve been a photographer since my early 20’s. I shoot predominantly landscape, wildlife, macro, and night sky images. I do enjoy the odd stillife, but really have no creativity in that genre so thought I’d step out of my box and join Deb and Carolyn on this journey. I’ve been a long time follower of Deb’s and love her work and creativity, and I’m thrilled to have an opportunity to get to know her and Carolyn more.

He-Man and I have been married for 39 years our 40th anniversary is late March. We have two children, 2 Grandson’s and 4 step-grand daughters.
19 months ago my husband and I sold our home of 30+ years in Silicon Valley and moved to a small town in NV. We love it here! At the beginning of Oct. my He-Man retired so we’re starting a new phase of our life. Fortunately, he’s worked from home for the last 8 years so we don’t have to get used to being together all.day.long! We got that down! 😀

I’m looking forward to the course, and seeing all the wonderful imagery you all produce!

    • Hi Deborah
So nice that you are joining us. We have followed each other for some time now. I always love your landscape pictures and reading how you talk about your family. I look forward to seeing your still life photos!!
      Debra

    • Hi Deborah … so nice to have you here. I think you’ll enjoy the course and learn a lot. 🙂 That’s great you’ve been following Debra. She is a great photographer! Sounds like you’ve got a nice family. 🙂 Nevada sounds relaxing …

    • Hi Deborah, looks like we have several things in common… hitting that 40 year mark, recently retired and downsizing. I look forward to sharing photos and ideas with you. I’ve done a little bit of still life photography and no landscape photography or night photography, lol.

      • Hi Tina, It’s nice to meet you! I feel so inadequate in the idea department when it comes to still life photography. I bet you’ve got more creativity and ideas in your pinky than I do in my whole head! I lack imagination as Anne of Green Gables would say. 😀

Are you working on something for this first week yet? I set up my dining room table Monday afternoon and have been shooting place settings and the center piece (tier tray), but don’t love anything I’ve photographed so far. I am taking it all down today and trying some new elements. We’ll see how it goes.

        • Deborah, I’ve had a hard time too, I just set up on a hutch, starting small… lol, can’t even think of the dining room table as of yet… took 100s of photos and most went into the trash. I’m posting one just because I spent so much time on it. But hey, we are here to learn, right?

  5. Hi my name is Jean. I live in Massachusetts with my husband and 2 dogs. We have 3 grown daughters. I have been shooting still life for a few years but I’m always trying to improve. I am looking forward to this class.

    • Hi Jean … welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. I’ve enjoyed following you on your Instagram account.

    • Hi Jean, so nice to meet you. Looking forward to seeIng your photos and learning from each other. I’m going to look for you on IG. You can find me at fowlertb.

I'd love to hear your thoughts ...
