Yesterday, as I glanced in my closet wondering what I’d be wearing to church this morning, it just wasn’t quite the same as it use to be. There wasn’t a pretty dress to wear. In fact, a dress is barely to be found in my closet. No shiny new shoes. I guess it isn’t about new clothes for me anymore.
When I was little, my siblings and I always had something new to wear. My sisters and I had pretty new dresses … all matching that Mom had sewn for us. I remember one year in particular when us three girls all had these brightly colored shoes to go with our new dresses. I can’t remember if we went to church that year or not. Sometimes we did, but other times we just got dressed up because it was Easter. And there was always an egg hunt. And lots of candy!
Easter isn’t just about pretty dresses and egg hunts. That’s something I never knew as a child. It’s been just over 30 years since I learned the true meaning of this incredible day. I may have heard of it before, but I don’t remember.
When I woke up on this Sunday morning in April, I know the true meaning of Easter. I know that Jesus hung on the cross and died for me. I know that it’s because of Him that I have my salvation and I know that one day I’ll see Him face to face in heaven. It’s because of what He did for me that I can have peace in my life. And health. And so much more! He died because He loves you and me!
Are you one who rests in the arms of Jesus, or are you ready to accept Him into your life? He is waiting for you. He has been calling you to Him. He knows you’ve had questions and are wondering. He loves you and He died and rose again for YOU.
It’s simple to accept Him into your life. Just say this little prayer and your new life with Him will begin today.
Jesus, I know my life isn’t perfect.
I’m ready for a change. Please come into my life.
Help me to live the life You’ve created me to live.
I choose to love You and live my life for You.
Amen.
Once you’ve done that. Just believe. This is the beginning of your new life with Him! Do you have a Bible? It’s a great time to start reading it. Try the book of Psalms, or maybe John. Do you have questions? I’d love to help you find answers.
Tell me your story in the comments below. I’d love to hear about your experience with Him. I’ll be sharing my story on May 16th. I hope you’ll come back and read it. 🙂
Blessings to you! And Happy Easter!
