Jesus wants to take you to deeper places with Him. Places you’ve never been. In the busy places we are in our lives, we don’t always want to take that time to stop, sit and listen. I’d like to encourage you to consider practicing His presence.
What would you want as you sit in the presence of Him?
- To feel …
- His love
- His peace
- His comfort
- Freedom
- Forgiveness
- Quietness in your soul
- To hear
- His Voice …
- confirming His love
- giving you direction
- confirming His Word
- His Voice …
You that you can find all of these things if you would just stop and spend some time with Him. Psalm 16:11 tells us …
I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t want to be in that place. I’m as guilty as the next person though. I spend time with my photo editing and with so many other things. When I have that time with Him though it really is fullness of joy. It really is peace and happiness. And I don’t know why I don’t spend more time with Him. It’s a place to grow in. That’s what this post is about … encouraging myself and you to grow in Him more.
When I talk about time in His presence, I’m not talking about ten or fifteen minutes in the Word … not that that’s a bad thing. That is incredible. Anytime you spend in the word you’re feeding your spirit and your soul. I am talking about quiet time before Him. Saying nothing. Just enjoying Him. I like to turn on some worship music and let it take me to places with Him that I might not go with nothing in the background. … I don’t know about you, but when I try to spend time with Jesus in complete silence, I begin to think about the dishes, the laundry, or what I need to add to my shopping list, etc!
When I take the time to stop and just be with Jesus it takes my breath away. I feel … peace … quietness … I feel like He is filling me up. It’s a good feeling.
This is something I’ve found that I have to practice. Practice makes perfect, right?
So, I’d like to ask you to do something. Take some time with Jesus … right now … set everything aside for 3 minutes, or four … choose a song like Give me Jesus or Yield My Heart. Stand or sit and listen to the whole song, directing your mind and heart toward Him. … Just rest in that place …
… and enjoy Him.
