Standing in my studio ... so many props everywhere and a brand new bouquet of pink carnations and a few sprays of eucalyptus ... but I just don't know what do to with them.
It can be frustrating ... does that ever happen to you? Just a real lack of inspiration ...
This is a regular occurrence with me. And so I'm just going to share a few things I do that help to get those creative ideas going.
- Step away: Sometimes, it doesn't matter how much I look at my props I still don't get inspired, so I just step away. I go into the other room and do something else. It never seems to fail. An idea jumps into my head and then I go back and shoot.
- Scroll through Instagram or Pinterest: I get so inspired by looking at other artists work! I save images that inspire me and then go back to them when I'm lacking inspiration.
- Just Play: Pull together different props, try out light and airy, dark and moody ... rustic, clean ... Something will jump out at you.
- Shoot & Edit: Many times I shoot three or four pictures, then upload them to my computer and edit. When I edit and see what they will look like sometimes I see something that needs to be tweaked or am just loving what I'm seeing so much that other ideas jump out at me and I head back to the studio and shoot some more.
