Good morning! Today is the day to share with you the makeover to my website! I was inspired by the beautiful site over at the Joyful Life Magazine. In a collaborative effort, they used some of my photography for their site and then their site was so much more beautiful than my own, so I proceeded to update mine. I hope you’ll go check them out … and my photography there! 🙂
Reworking and combining my sites is something that’s been on my mind for quite a while now. I am a portrait photographer who also loves still life. Actually, I really don’t know why I limit myself that way. The truth is that I am a photographer. Plain and simple. Holding a camera in my hand and capturing whatever beauty I see around me brings me great pleasure. When I first started out with photography it was in capturing landscapes, a love that I inherited from my Grandma. That wasn’t making me any money and I wanted to make money with this. I’d received lots of compliments on photos of my children and was encouraged to do photography as a business. So I did.
About two years ago, I was introduced to a different type of photography … just capturing things from everyday life. While I enjoyed it for a time, I just didn’t know what I’d ever do with the photos and wasn’t necessarily getting a whole lot of enjoyment out of it. I began to see other people’s work on Instagram and was lead to still life photography. I’ve grown to love it! It’s not only a great creative outlet for me, but also something I do just for me. It’s really turned into a soul care activity for myself.
I’ve been told that I should focus on only one area in photography, but life just isn’t like that … we’re all over the place in our lives! And my photography is too!
And so with the addition of this love, I started a new website called Sixteen Miles Out … if you’d like to hear where that name came from, you can click here.
Managing two sites has been a bit work and I really just wanted everything I do to be in one place. I am after all just one person with many loves. So, with the inspiration from Sandi at Joyful Life, I have completed this task and combined my two sites. Please take a look around and thanks for stopping by. I’d love to hear what you think!
