There was this one day when suddenly I realized I needed to read my Bible. I believe that's a realization we all come to at some time or other in our lives. In those early days, my need was so strong that I just read and read. I didn't know what it was that I was reading. I didn't understand a lot of it. But I read anyway ...
These days (and for many years) I read because I want to ... and I love to read my Bible.
There are definitely some parts that I love more than others and days that I don't particularly love reading. I suppose that's the way all parts of life are.
Knowing that the Word of God is full of life is what keeps me reading it. Well, one thing. It is full of instruction and encouragement to take me through daily life. It teaches me about God. It's full of great stories that give examples of how to handle life's difficulties. It shows me the love that Jesus has for me.
It's food for my soul.
Are you someone who reads your Bible? If so, what is your favorite book?
If you aren't a Bible reader and have any curiosity, how about starting with the book of Psalms, or maybe the book of John.
If you have any questions, please ask! This is one of my favorite subjects!

I love listening and reading at the same time. We use Bible. Is and listen to an Old Testament chapter and then a New Testament chapter. That way we can do it together. Then we listen to Through The Word to a summary of the chapter we listened to. I like to journal and read along in my Bible, but my husband likes to just listen. I usually read more on my own sometimes right then or later in the day. It’s my favorite thing about retirement!

I love this Kelly! That’s so good that you do this together. I love it when I have lots of time I can spend in the word!
